City of Gloucester to Host Summer Blood Drive with the American Red Cross
GLOUCESTER — Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and Chief Eric Smith are pleased to announce that the Gloucester Firefighters Union, Jalapeno’s Restaurant and the Sawyer Free Library will be holding a community blood drive for the American Red Cross next month.
WHEN:
Saturday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE:
Sawyer Free Library, 2 Dale Ave.
WHAT:
According to the American Red Cross, a person is in need of blood every two seconds in the United States.
Members of the Gloucester Fire Department will man the American Red Cross bloodmobile at the Sawyer Free Library to assist those who are donating blood. Those who choose to donate will receive a $20 gift card from Jalapeno’s Restaurant.
“We are very excited to be a part of this event and hope to see the community come out for it,” said Capt. Phil Harvey, who is a member of the Firefighters Union’s executive board. “By taking a few minutes out of your day, you are giving a vital resource to someone in need.”
“This event would not be possible without the help of our community groups and leaders, including the Gloucester Firefighters Union, the Sawyer Free Library, and Jalapeno’s Restaurant,” Mayor Romeo Theken said. “I hope to see the great people of Gloucester come out and contribute to make a huge impact on someone else’s life.”
To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org and enter the keyword JALAPENO.
