Maynard to Begin Automated Curbside Collection of Single-Stream Recycling
MAYNARD — Town Administrator Kevin Sweet is pleased to announce that Maynard will begin automated curbside collection of single-stream recycling at the beginning of next month.
Single-stream recycling means there is no separation of material. Items like glass, paper and plastic can all be placed in one bin.
Every residence will receive a free 95-gallon cart the week of July 31-Aug. 5, with recycling pickup to begin the week of Aug. 7. Pickup will then occur every other week.
Additionally, residents will have the option to purchase a second 95-gallon cart, or exchange the free 95-gallon cart for a smaller 38-gallon cart, both of which can be done by contacting E.L. Harvey, the town’s waste and recycling provider.
All recycling material must be in the cart to be collected, and the cart must be curbside away from trash, mailboxes, etc. by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup. Bins containing improper materials will be left behind.
“We’re excited to be able to offer single-stream recycling to residents to make this process easier and smoother for them and the town,” Town Administrator Sweet said. “We hope that providing this service will encourage community members to recycle more items that they normally throw away.”
