Ipswich Installs Medication Drop Off Kiosk at Town Hall

IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul A. Nikas and Public Health Director Colleen Fermon are pleased to announce that a safe and secure medication drop off box has been installed in the Ipswich Town Hall.

The kiosk is located at the town hall, 25 Green St., in front of the Council on Aging Cafeteria on the lower level of the building.

Donated by the Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents Safe Medication Disposal Program, the box provides 24-hour, no questions asked access for local residents to dispose of drugs, unneeded prescriptions and unused medication samples.

“We are proud to be able to offer this resource at multiple locations here in Ipswich and hope that residents will use it,” Chief Nikas said. “If you have any unwanted or expired prescription drugs, please stop by the town hall or the police station and properly dispose of them, no questions asked.”

The Ipswich Police Department also has a 24-hour kiosk available in the police station lobby.

“Having a second location for residents to dispose of their unwanted medications will hopefully encourage more people to take advantage of this resource,” Fermon said. “It is so important to rid your home of potentially harmful controlled substances to keep them from ending up in the wrong hands.

Residents should note that no liquids, needles, sharps, or inhalers will be accepted. Contact the Ipswich Police Department at 978-356-4343 or the Ipswich Health Department at 978-356-6606 with any questions or concerns.
