Memorial Park School in Rockland Hosts STEM Fair for Students with EMD Serono
ROCKLAND — Principal Janice Sheehan is pleased to announce that the Memorial Park School hosted a successful STEM fair for students in grades two through four.
On June 13, working with the Rockland office of EMD Serono — an international company that works to advance science to treat conditions like cancer — and Boston Cares, the school hosted an all-day fair where students investigated a variety of topics in science, technology, engineering and math.
Organized by Boston Cares, volunteers from EMD Serono worked with students in the gymnasium on 40-60 minute robotics experiments and projects. Each activity was designed to foster critical thinking and cooperation as students investigated and solved problems.
Volunteers and students also worked outside to spruce up the playground area and outdoor classroom.
“Students had a great time at the STEM Fair and we’re so grateful to EMD Serono for sending volunteers to help us put on this event,” Principal Sheehan said. “Our outside space looks better than ever and we’re excited to begin instruction outdoors.”
