Rockport Police to Host Bicycle and Scooter Safety Rodeo

ROCKPORT — Chief John Horvath is pleased to announce that the Rockport Police Department will host a bicycle and scooter safety rodeo this weekend for students and their families.

WHEN:

Saturday, June 3 from 2-4:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Rockport High School Track, 24 Jerden’s Lane

WHAT:

The Rockport Police Department, in conjunction with the Rockport Rotary Club, is hosting a free bicycle and scooter safety rodeo for students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

Attendees should bring their own bikes and scooters, which can then be inspected and registered with the police department. Police officers will also be available to ensure all helmets are properly fitted on children.

Students can then ride through a bike obstacle course, get a closer look inside a police cruiser and enjoy hot dogs and refreshments with their families.

“We want to ensure that with the warmer weather, children who are riding their bikes and scooters are as safe as they can be,” Chief Horvath said. “This is a great, free opportunity for parents and their children to have some fun outside while learning important safety tips.”
