Rochester Public Library Seeking Applicants to Fill Vacant Trustee Seat

ROCHESTER — City Manager Daniel Fitzpatrick and Library Director Brian Sylvester announce that the city is actively searching for a Ward 3 resident to fill a vacant seat on the Rochester Public Library’s Board of Trustees.

The trustees are responsible for holistic oversight of the library. They create and manage the library’s operating and capital budgets, direct fundraising efforts and expenditures of gifts and have a hands-on role in determining which books and materials are offered at the library. The library trustees are also responsible for overseeing library personnel.

“This is a critical role that is essential to the library and the city,” Sylvester said. “We are eager to fill this seat with someone who feels passionately about the importance of the library and can contribute to maintaining it as an invaluable city institution.”

Any person who resides in Ward 3 may submit a Statement of Interest, which can be found here. Applications will be evaluated by the City Council’s Appointments Review Committee ahead of confirmation of a finalist by the full City Council.

The person chosen for the seat would be eligible for re-appointment in January 2020.
