WHITMAN — Fire Chief Timothy J. Grenno reports that the Whitman Fire Department extinguished a shed fire over the weekend.

At approximately 8:07 p.m., on Saturday, May 21, the department received a report of a shed fire at 81 Beal Ave.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed the shed fully engulfed in flames and acted quickly to extinguish the blaze and put out hot spots to prevent the fire from spreading.

No injuries were reported, but the shed has been deemed a total loss, with damage estimated at approximately $25,000.

“Saturday night’s incident is just another example of our firefighters working quickly and professionally in order to contain a fire,” Chief Grenno said. “Thankfully it did not spread and no one was hurt.”
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Whitman Fire Department.
