Maynard Fire Department Extinguishes Kitchen Fire at China Ruby Restaurant

MAYNARD — Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department extinguished a small kitchen fire at the China Ruby restaurant yesterday.

On Sunday, May 14, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Maynard Fire Department was dispatched to the China Ruby restaurant, 42 Nason St., for a report of a fire in the kitchen.

Engine 2 and Ladder 1 responded. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke in the kitchen and located a fire in a steaming oven with some extension into the smoke duct leading to the roof.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames using a dry chemical extinguisher and a 1 3/4 inch hand line. The fire was under control at 6:10 p.m.

The Sudbury Fire Department provided assistance. No injuries were reported and there is no structural damage to the restaurant.
