Rochester Public Schools to Host Career Workshop for Students and Businesses

Rochester, N.H. — Superintendent Michael L. Hopkins is pleased to announce that Rochester Public Schools will hold its third Career Assistance Workshop, “What, Why and How to be ‘Employable,’” which will give students a chance to meet local business leaders and learn the skills they’ll need to launch their future careers.

“We’re pleased to once again be hosting this workshop, because it’s a great way for students to hear firsthand what employers are looking for from prospective employees,” Hopkins said. “It’s also an invaluable opportunity for students to learn the essential skills they’ll need to be independent and successful adults.”

Spaulding High School Auditorium, 130 Wakefield St.

WHAT:

The Rochester Public Schools invites students and parents to its Career Assistance Workshop, which will feature local business leaders offering insight on how students can best prepare to enter the workforce after high school.

New Hampshire Department of Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut will also be in attendance.

The program is designed to engage, educate and empower not just the school community, but rather the community as a whole. The event is organized by Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator Dean Graziano.

“Our hope is to help fit students and businesses together in a mutually beneficial partnership so that the students get valuable experience while businesses end up with better-prepared interns and workers coming from a high school environment,” Graziano said.

A panel of business leaders will offer insight on a variety of key topics related to making a successful post-secondary transition. Topics will include: interviewing tips, resume and cover letter development and tips for building credit. Students will also have a chance to meet with individual panelists to ask questions.

The event is free and parents and guardians are asked to attend along with their students.
