Rochester Fire Department Responds to Rollover on Spaulding Turnpike

One Patient taken to Hospital by Medical Helicopter

ROCHESTER, N.H. — Chief Norman Sanborn reports that the Rochester Fire Department responded Friday afternoon to a single vehicle rollover crash on the Spaulding Turnpike that resulted in serious injuries to the driver.

Firefighters, State Police, and Frisbie Ambulance, responded at 2:12 p.m. to the Turnpike southbound, two miles south of the tolls. Upon arrival, rescuers found a single patient, the driver of a maroon pickup trick, needing medical attention.

The victim, a 63-year-old Rochester man, was taken by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Response Team medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine with injuries that are considered serious but not believed to be life-threatening. .

The turnpike was closed for the duration of the helicopter’s time on scene time, approximately 20 minutes.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
