Bridgewater Police Arrest Two for Trafficking Fentanyl

BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that Bridgewater Police Detectives, supporting an investigation by Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) Detectives, Old Colony Drug Task Force Detectives and local WEB Major Crimes and Drug Task Force members, arrested two people for trafficking fentanyl after a long-term, multi-agency investigation.

STEVEN IRVING JR., AGE 22, OF HANSON and SAIRA PEREZ, AGE 33, OF JOHNSTON, R.I. were each charged with one count of Trafficking a Class A Substance (fentanyl).

A search warrant was obtained for 45 Wood St. in Bridgewater as part of the investigation into suspected drug activity in the community.

The investigation, which included surveillance and search warrants, yielded nearly 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl and more than $10,000 in cash.

IRVING was arrested at a shopping center on Broad Street, and PEREZ was arrested at the Wood Street residence, each without incident.

Bridgewater Police Detectives assisted the SEMLEC Detectives Unit, the Old Colony Drug Task Force and the WEB Task Force, which are regional consortiums of law enforcement officers working together under mutual aid agreements.

“I commend all agencies involved in this investigation, as it is part of our proactive strategy to protect our community from the dangers of drugs,” Chief Delmonte said. “Our three-pronged approach includes education, enforcement, and follow-up treatment programs. Both suspects were arraigned today in Brockton District Court.
