*Media Advisory* Newport Police to Host Public Forum on Opioid Crisis

NEWPORT — Chief Seth DiSanto reports that the Newport Police Department, along with Vermont State Police and the Vermont Intelligence Center, will host a forum to discuss the opioid crisis in Vermont this week.

WHEN

Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

WHERE

North Country Union High School, 209 Veterans Ave.

WHO

  • Newport Police Department
  • Vermont State Police
  • Vermont Intelligence Center
  • Members of public safety and Vermont law enforcement divisions

WHAT

The Newport Police Department invites community members to a forum to address concerns and constructive solutions to the opioid crisis in Orleans County. The forum will include a presentation by law enforcement followed by a question and answer session. Members of various law enforcement councils and police officers will be available to speak with concerned citizens and help those in attendance understand how opiate addiction affects family members and friends.

“We encourage Newport residents to join us in learning about and addressing the opioid issue facing our community,” Chief DiSanto said. “Our hope is that, through knowledge and awareness, Vermont’s communities can join with law enforcement in an effort to solve this nationwide crisis in our own homes.”
