Town of Arlington to Host Patriots Day Parade
Parade Committee Seeks Nominations for Honorary Grand Marshal
ARLINGTON — The Town of Arlington is pleased to announce that the date for the 2017 Patriots Day Parade has been set and officials are currently seeking nominations for Honorary Grand Marshal.
The Patriots Day Parade will be held on Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. The route will begin at Brattle Square and travel down Massachusetts Avenue to Linwood Street. The parade is the Town of Arlington’s longest-standing tradition, and utilizes hundreds of participants and volunteers each year.
The Parade Committee is now accepting nominations for the Honorary Grand Marshal, an individual who has performed exemplary service and made significant contributions to the Town of Arlington. The Grand Marshal will ride in a convertible during the parade.
All nominations must be submitted by March 1. Nominations should include:
- Name of the person you are nominating
- Reason you believe he/she should be Honorary Grand Marshal
- Name of and contact information for the person/group making the nomination
Nominations can be submitted to boh@town.arlington.ma.us or mailed to Arlington Veterans Services, 730 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington, MA 02476.
Historically, the parade has taken place the Sunday before Patriots Day. This year, however, Easter Sunday falls on the day before Patriots Day, so the parade will take place the following week.
The Parade Committee is also seeking donations and sponsors for the parade. For more information about sponsorship and parade day activities, please visit arlingtonma.gov/parade.
