*Update* Andover Police Seeking Public’s Help in Double Shooting Investigation

Both Victims Released from Hospital

ANDOVER — Chief Patrick Keefe reports that the Andover Police Department continues to investigate last night’s double shooting and is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Both victims were released from Lawrence General Hospital today.

An initial investigation has indicated that the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. in the Shawseen Plaza at 209 N. Main St.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting or anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Andover Police Detectives at (978) 475-0411.

Original release:

At 10:22 p.m. Thursday, Andover Police were notified that two men had arrived at Lawrence General Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers determined that the victims had been shot at a duplex home on North Main Street in Andover, and a friend had driven them to the hospital.

The victims, two Andover men in their 20s, suffered serious injuries.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. At this time, police do not believe that this incident was the result of a random act of violence. The investigation indicates that the victims may have been specifically targeted. There is no word on motive or a suspect or suspects at this time.

“We do not believe that there is any danger to the community at large,” Chief Keefe said. “Right now, this investigation is just beginning, and we greatly appreciate everyone’s patience while the victims are tended to and we work to determine who is responsible for this act of violence in our community.”

This incident is being investigated by the Andover Police Department. Lawrence Police detectives are assisting Andover Police, as are State Police assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Crime Scene Services Section.
