Georgetown Fire Department Prepares to Head Out on 17th Annual Santa Tour
GEORGETOWN — Chief Fred A. Mitchell Jr. is pleased to announce that the Georgetown Fire Department will be taking Santa around town next month as part of the department’s 17th annual fundraising event for Toys for Tots.
“We hope that everyone can come out and donate an unwrapped toy when Santa visits their neighborhood next month,” Chief Mitchell said. “This is a great cause that we are so proud to be a part of each year.”
WHEN
Sunday, Dec. 4, beginning at 11 a.m. at the VFW, 435 Andover St. and ending around 8 p.m. at the fire station on Central St.
WHERE
Be on the lookout for the Georgetown Fire Department, they will be bringing Santa through the town’s neighborhoods.
WHAT
Georgetown firefighters and Santa will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 16, all along their route. Those who miss the fire department can drop off toys at the police or fire station, 47 Central St.
The fire department has been collecting toys to donate to Toys for Tots — a foundation started by the U.S. Marine Corps — since 2000. Deputy Fire Chief Rusty Ricker coordinates the event.
“This annual event is just one of the many things that makes Georgetown a great place to live,” Deputy Ricker said. “It is so wonderful to see the community come together to support the efforts of the fire department and the United States Marine Corps to bring smiles to children on Christmas morning.”
