ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating after a bench was apparently set ablaze inside a lavatory at Arlington High School today.

Arlington Police and Fire Investigating Fire in Girls Bathroom at Arlington High School

ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating after a bench was apparently set ablaze inside a lavatory at Arlington High School today.

Arlington Police and Fire responded to the High School at 1:54 p.m. for a reported fire.

A small fire was found in the girls bathroom and quickly extinguished.

No one was hurt. The fire was confined to the bathroom, and there was no other damage to the building. The Downs Building of Arlington High School was evacuated during the incident.

Police believe the fire was intentionally set, and the incident is under investigation by the Arlington Police and Fire Departments. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is also responding to the scene.
