Melrose High School Students Inducted into National Honor Society

MELROSE — High School Principal Jason Merrill is pleased to announce that 68 juniors and seniors have been inducted into the Melrose chapter of the National Honor Society.

New members were welcomed to the organization during an 8 a.m. ceremony in the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School auditorium on Oct. 17.

New inductees include:

To earn a spot in NHS, students must meet the organization’s four pillars:

• Scholarship – minimum GPA of 3.5
• Community – minimum of 25 hours of community service, with 10 directly contributing to Melrose High School
• Leadership – minimum of one activity at the high school (club, sport, organization, etc.)
• Character – demonstrate outstanding character, supported by faculty and community member recommendations

“Members of Melrose’s National Honor Society are recognized for their dedication and perseverance in all aspects of their high school career, from academics to community service, and are challenged to further develop their character and skill set through activities and leadership roles,” Principal Merrill said. “Congratulations to our newest inductees. I am confident they will uphold the mission of this organization.”

Once initiated, students in NHS must organize and perform two service projects throughout the year, such as park cleanups, tutoring, or creating care packages for soldiers overseas.
