Chelmsford Police Officers to Participate in No-Shave November to Benefit the Movember Foundation

CHELMSFORD — Chief James Spinney is pleased to announce that the Chelmsford Police Department is participating in No-Shave November this month to raise money for the Movember Foundation.

The Movember Foundation is a nonprofit organization that addresses some of the biggest health issues affecting men, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.

Officers participating in the program will be donating $20 to grow out their facial hair. The Chelmsford Police Athletic League, a nonprofit organized and operated on a volunteer basis by Chelmsford police officers, will match all donations made. All proceeds will go to the Movember Foundation.

“This fundraiser is always well received by our department, and is a fun way for us to raise money for a very worthy cause,” Chief Spinney said. “I would encourage any community members who would like to participate to join us in growing out their facial hair to benefit the Movember Foundation.”

Chelmsford Police have also set up a link for community members to make donations on the Movember Foundation’s website.

About the Movember Foundation

In 2003, two men from Australia started the Movember Foundation, which has raised $710 million dollars and funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world. The nonprofit is the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round and free of government funding.

The Movember Foundation addresses some of the biggest health issues facing men today: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. More than five million people from all over the world have participated in No-Shave November since the charity began.
