Arlington Police Searching for Bank Robbery Suspect

ARLINGTON — Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is actively searching for a man who robbed a Leader Bank branch this afternoon.
Around 1:30 p.m., a man entered the Leader Bank location at 449 Massachusetts Ave. He stated that he had a firearm. He then appeared to flee westbound on Massachusetts Avenue with an undetermined amount of cash.
The suspect is described as a black male, who is approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, and who was wearing a knitted winter Patriots hat, sunglasses, a blue checkered shirt, blue jeans, and black boots or sneakers.
Out of an abundance of caution, St. Agnes School and Arlington Catholic High School briefly sheltered in place while police searched for the suspect.
“I am grateful that no one was injured in this incident and that bank staff acted appropriately and performed their duties,” Chief Ryan said.
If anyone has information on this incident, or has seen the suspect, they are asked to contact Arlington Police at 781-643-1212.
