Gloucester Police Officers Graduate from MBTA Transit Academy

GLOUCESTER — Assistant Chief John McCarthy is pleased to announce that two officers from the Gloucester Police Department graduated from the MBTA Transit Police Academy yesterday.

Officers Alexander Aiello and William Kendall Jr. completed the 37th Municipal Police Officers Class at the MBTA Police Academy in Quincy, which began on March 14. Prior to their entrance into the academy, the recruits had served as reserve officers since July of 2014.

Both will begin seven weeks of field training before being assigned to a shift.

“Graduating from the police academy is no small feat and I commend Officer Aiello and Officer Kendall for their accomplishments,” Assistant Chief McCarthy said. “We look forward to them finishing their field training and integrating themselves into the community.”

Officer Aiello, 26, grew up in Gloucester and is the son of Ann and Stephen Aiello. He is a graduate of Gloucester High School, and Salem State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Officer Kendall, 25, is a Gloucester native and graduate of Gloucester High School. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University. He is the son of Nina and William Kendall.
