Bridgewater Police Investigating Fatal Drowning

Bridgewater Police Investigating Fatal Drowning

BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte reports that the man who was pulled unresponsive from a swimming pool on Sunday has died.

Bridgewater Police and Fire responded at 4:45 p.m. on Aug. 14 to a home on Mary Lane for a report of a possible drowning. Upon arrival, family members were performing CPR on the victim, a 73-year-old man.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Brockton Hospital then transferred to a Boston hospital via medical helicopter. Police were notified that the victim died Monday afternoon.

The incident is under investigation by Bridgewater Police Detectives Robert Bailey and Peter Balboni.

This is the second fatal drowning in Bridgewater in the past week. On Saturday, Aug. 13, Bridgewater police and fire officials responded to the Axis Apartments at Summit Drive. Upon arrival, they found a a Good Samaritan administering CPR on a man who had been pulled out of the complex’s swimming pool. The victim, a 56-year-old man who resided in the complex, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m.
