Bedford Police Collect Cell Phones for Soldiers

BEDFORD — Chief Robert Bongiorno is pleased to announce that the Bedford Police Department has recently collected over 300 mobile phones for Cell Phones for Soldiers through their donation bin in the police department lobby.
Cell Phones for Soldiers is a national nonprofit committed to providing serving troops and veterans with free communication services and emergency funding through donated mobile devices and monetary contributions. The Bedford Police Department has worked with the nonprofit for the past 12 years, actively participating in events with the Berquest family, who founded the organization in 2004.
Bedford Police officers have previously traveled to the Hanscom Air Force Base to deliver donated phones to soldiers who are preparing to deploy. The department has collected thousands of cell phones throughout the years, and the latest batch of 300 have already been sent to the organization. Their collection efforts are continuous.
“We are pleased to support Cell Phones for Soldiers, as they are an instrumental organization that aides in soldiers’ well-being overseas,” said Officer Kristen Dineen, who handles donations for Cell Phones for Soldiers at the department. “We thank everyone who has participated so far and encourage that anyone with cell phones to spare consider donating them to this cause.”
Anyone with questions regarding Cell Phones for Soldiers donations should contact Officer Dineen at 781-275-1212.
