Natick Police Investigating Child Struck by Motor Vehicle

NATICK — Chief James G. Hicks reports that the Natick Police Department is investigating an incident today where a motor vehicle struck a child who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., two vehicles were traveling east on Pond Street, approaching Maple Street.

The first vehicle stopped at the crosswalk at Maple Street to allow for pedestrians to walk across the street. At the same time, a 38-year-old woman from Natick driving a Kia Rondo, was traveling behind the first vehicle.

To avoid hitting the first vehicle, the woman in the Kia began to abruptly apply her brakes. She then veered right, driving off the road and jumping the curb, where she collided with a 5-year old boy at a low speed.

The child was transported via Natick ambulance to Boston Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have currently been filed against the driver, however, the incident remains under investigation by the Natick Police Department.
