North Haven Fire Responds to Serious Motor Vehicle Crash

NORTH HAVEN – Chief Paul Januszewski reports that the North Haven Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that resulted in a driver being ejected and pinned between his car and a bus stop enclosure.

At 2:23 p.m. this afternoon, North Haven firefighters responded to the area of Maple Avenue and Sackett Point Road for a motor vehicle accident with possible pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, they found a Chevy pickup truck with an attached trailer had collided with a Mitsubishi. The driver of the Mitsubishi was ejected from his vehicle and pinned between his car and a bus stop enclosure on Maple Avenue.

Bystanders helped move the vehicle away from the bus stop enclosure to free the driver.

The Mitsubishi driver sustained a severe arm laceration and head wound. The pickup truck driver sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.

Portions of Maple Avenue and Sackett Point Road were closed by the North Haven Police Department.

The crash is under investigation by the North Haven Police Department and a regional traffic investigation team.
