Bedford Police Investigating Serious Crash on Rt. 101

The following reflects additions to last Friday’s release, including the identities of those involved in the crash. The crash is still under investigation by the Bedford Police Department.

BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department is investigating a serious, three-car motor vehicle crash on Rt. 101 this morning that left three women injured.

On Friday at 11:16 a.m., Bedford Police and Fire responded to Rt. 101 near Covenant Way.

According to witnesses, a 1998 Toyota Camry, driven by MARY EVANS, AGE 41, of MANCHESTER, was driving at a high rate of speed and was passing other cars by driving into the oncoming, westbound traffic lane. As she tried to pass additional cars, she veered into the path of a 2000 Honda CR-V, driven by MARIE BORINO, AGE 68, of MILFORD, striking the vehicle. The impact sent the Honda off the road and into some trees. The Toyota then struck a 2015 Nissan Rogue, driven by DIANA POULETTE, AGE 78, OF BEDFORD, head-on, with the two cars coming to a rest in the middle of the roadway.

The drivers of all three vehicles, the lone occupants, were each transported to area hospitals by the Bedford Fire Department with injuries that are considered serious but not life-threatening.

The three vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. The crash resulted in Rt. 101 being closed in both directions for about one hour while the drivers were rescued, the cars and debris were removed, and police investigated. The crashed caused significant traffic delays in town.

The crash is under investigation by Bedford Police Officer Chris Storti.
