All Clear After Bomb Threat at Arlington High School

ARLINGTON — Dr. Kathleen Bodie, Superintendent of Arlington Public Schools reports that Arlington High School has resumed normal activity after receiving automated bomb threats this morning.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Arlington High School declared a shelter in place after a staff member received the automated phone call. Students who had already arrived for the school day were held outside while police searched the building. Those who had not yet arrived were instructed not to drive onto campus. The community’s email alert system was used to communicate the status of the search with both students and parents.

Just after 8 a.m., Arlington High School declared their shelter-in-place over and returned to normal activity. 

“I would like to thank our students and staff for their cooperation during today’s evacuation,” Superintendent Bodie said. “We take any threats and act with caution to make sure that our school is and feels safe. Incidents such as this can cause alarm for parents and students, but please rest assured that school is an extremely safe place for students.”

The Guidance and Social Work staff are available to meet with students who may need support after today’s events.
