Town of Maynard Lauds Increase in Occupancy of Mill and Main

MAYNARD – Town Administrator Kevin A. Sweet is pleased to announce that the Mill and Main’s committed occupancy has nearly doubled in the first year under ownership of Saracen Properties, LLC as renovations continue and new features are added.

On March 26, 2015, Saracen Properties of Waltham became owners of what was then known as Clock Tower Place. At that time, the property’s committed occupancy was only at 25 percent, and is now nearly half full and growing.

When it was constructed in 1847, the property served as a woolens mill until it was converted into an office park in 1950. Mesa West Capital of Los Angeles, provided Saracen Properties with 40.8 million dollars to complete the alterations of the one-million-square-foot campus.

Saracen, with a multi-year history of successful development in eastern Massachusetts, is quickly moving to implement a new master plan which will effectively integrate the mill into downtown Maynard. The re-branded space is made up of 12 vintage brick-and-beam buildings that stretch over a 50-acre campus, overlooking a mill pond.

“We are pleased with the success of this project so far, and are looking forward to the future development of Mill and Main,” Sweet said. “This remodel of a community staple will improve life here in Maynard and I think residents will be very happy with the result.”

The Mill and Main will offer several new lifestyle amenities including:

  • Riverside boardwalk overlooking the mill pond and pedestrian plaza
  • Craft brewery and artisan culinary options that appeal to every taste
  • Boutique retail venues
  • Fitness facilities
  • Onsite parking garage

“We are looking forward to working with the Town of Maynard on this endeavor which has been positive so far,” said Henry St. Hillaire, the Director of Development and Construction at Saracen Properties, LCC. “This is an exciting project and we can’t wait for the community to see what we have in store for them here.”
