Bedford Police to Host “Social Media: A Predator’s Playground” Event
BEDFORD, N.H. — Chief John Bryfonski announces that the Bedford Police Department, in conjunction with the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (NH ICAC) Task Force, will host a forum on how to protect children while online.
The presentation, “Social Media: A Predator’s Playground,” will focus on educating attendees on the potential risks associated with the internet.
“This is a great opportunity for the community, especially residents who have children, to learn about best practices to keep their students safe on social media,” Chief Bryfonski said. “We encourage all who are interested in attending to join us for this discussion.”
WHEN:
Monday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Bedford High School Theater, 47 Nashua Road
WHAT:
Police and representatives from the NH ICAC Task Force will discuss how citizens can better protect their children while they’re on computers, cell phones, iPads, digital cameras, gaming systems, social networks and internet blogs.
The hour-and-a-half presentation is geared toward parents, educators and community leaders looking to gain a better understanding of the technology available to teenagers and the ways predators can use the internet and social media applications to exploit them.
About the New Hampshire ICAC:
The New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was established in 1998 and is responsible for investigating cases of child sexual exploitation involving the use of high technology throughout the state. This program enables law enforcement agencies to work together to acquire the technical skills, specialized equipment and resources to effectively investigate and prosecute offenders.
