Paraben Announces Release of DS 7.4, Newest Version of its “Device Seizure” Forensic Software

Custom Acquisition Options, Import of Data from Cloud-based Services Added

ASHBURN, Va. —  Paraben Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of its newest mobile forensics software, Device Seizure (DS) 7.4, with added and updated features.

DS is designed to serve as the central platform for law enforcement, government, and private security organizations conducting forensic investigations into smart phones, tablets, and other mobile devices.

This latest version of Paraben’s DS software features new custom acquisition options, allowing users to save time and select only the portions of data they need rather than processing an entire device.

Additionally, DS 7.4 offers new functionality including extraction of authentication data for cloud-based services such as Facebook, Gmail, PARABENGoogle Drive, and Encrypted iOS 7.x-9.x backups, and import of data from Facebook, Gmail and Google Drive. A new digital signature option has also been added to reports in Microsoft Excel format to guarantee report integrity.

“This new release of DS demonstrates Paraben’s commitment to providing innovative solutions and to answering industry needs with new approaches to digital investigative problems,” said Paraben CEO Amber Schroader. “We have created this new Cloud App Analysis feature to allow the industry to gain access to App data in an investigation despite what the manufacturers are doing to remove access.”

DS 7.4 has improved the speed of acquisition of Android and iOS devices which is now performed up to two times faster. Possible problems with the acquisition of rooted Android OS devices, detection of Palm Pre devices on Windows 8 and higher OS, and with the compatibility of Android device dump files acquired via DS with other forensic tools have all been fixed in this latest version. DS 7.4 now also includes parsing of Google Maps application data for Android OS devices and support of logical acquisition of devices with iOS 9.1.

Key features of DS 7.4 include comprehensive data acquisition of text messages, address books, and more, built-in password recovery, Windows CE registry viewer, acquisition of complete GSM and CDMA SIM card information including deleted data, full flash download of certain models of mobile devices, and a SIM card cloner. These standard features along with unique custom features like integrated Google Earth which making viewing coordinates from GPS and KML files seamless, make it a powerhouse in the mobile forensic tool arena.

Paraben’s DS software has the ability to acquire devices both logically and physically, and includes password bypassing as well as file system extractions, all within a single easy-to-use tool and single case. The software also features device auto-detection, making it easy for users to immediately start an acquisition once the device is plugged in. DS will automatically load all drivers allowing investigators to transition from acquisition to report in three simple steps, making this software one of the easiest tools to use.

The cost of a full one-year license is $2,495 and includes:

  • Perpetual License of DS (Dongle Based)
  • A free 1 Year Subscription with purchase
  • DS Toolbox – Data Cables, StrongHold Bag, Power Management, Media Readers
  • License of Link2 for Link Analysis
