STONEHAM — Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department arrested three men last week after an investigation into the alleged distribution of cocaine and heroin.

IMG_3831The arrests are the result of a two-month investigation by the Stoneham Police Department and detectives from the Southern Middlesex Regional Drug Task Force.

MARK BOTELHO, AGE 41, OF STONEHAM; VICTOR LANTIGUA, AGE 23, OF LAWRENCE; and CHRISTOPHER MORALES, AGE 22, OF LAWRENCE were arrested on Thursday, Jan. 21.

At approximately 3:40 p.m., detectives executed a search warrant on BOTELHO and at his residence. Based on evidence recovered, detectives connected LANTIGUA to BOTELHO for the distribution of cocaine.

Detectives then set up an undercover buy with LANTIGUA, who arrived with MORALES in the passenger seat of his vehicle. Both suspects were found to be in possession of drugs and were arrested.

BOTELHO was charged with:

  • Distribution of a Class B Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Controlled Substance (Oxycodone)
  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class E Controlled Substance (Lidocaine)
  • Possession of Firearm Ammunition without a License
  • Operating a Vehicle with a Revoked License.

LANTIGUA was charged with:

  • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws

MORALES was charged with:

  • Possession with the  Intent to Distribute a Class A Controlled Substance (Heroin)
  • Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws.

Chief McIntyre praised the hard work of the Stoneham Police Detectives and regional partner agencies.

“Unfortunately, illegal drug use and distribution are major problems in every community, but we will continue to attack the supply side of this problem with full force,” Chief McIntyre said. “Thanks to the diligent work by all of the detectives involved in this case, we were able to take three alleged drug dealers off of the streets.”

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
