Concord Police Arrest Man for Larceny, Connect Suspect to Multiple Thefts In Massachusetts

CONCORD — Chief Joseph O’Connor reports that the Concord Police Department arrested a man for larceny into a business, and in turn, identified him as the suspect allegedly involved in multiple thefts throughout eastern Massachusetts.

STEVEN STANLEY, AGE 44, OF WEYMOUTH was charged with Larceny from a Building and Larceny Over $250.

On Thursday, Jan. 8, an associate from Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, 330 Baker Ave., notified the police department that several pairs of high-end eyeglass frames were stolen from the business. The reporting party provided detectives with a detailed description of the suspect and surveillance video from the business.

The surveillance footage was analyzed to identify a suspect on Friday, Jan. 9. Police were later able to determine the man in the video to be STANLEY.

At the same time, the Acton Police Department broadcasted a radio message to area police departments informing them that two suspects entered an optometry practice in town and began acting suspiciously, leading employees to believe they were attempting to steal eyeglass frames. The suspects then left the area and were last seen driving toward Concord.

As officers responded to the optometry practice, the Concord Police Department received a second report that two individuals, matching the description from those in the Acton broadcast, had entered another optometry practice and were acting suspiciously before they were confronted by employees and left the business.

Two Concord Detectives then located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Inside were the two individuals fitting the description of the suspects outlined in the radio broadcast.

Police  determined that one of the suspects, STANLEY, was the man involved in the eyeglass frame larceny from Concord on Jan. 8. He was arrested and transported to the Concord police station.

STANLEY was also found to have nine open warrants for his arrest on similar charges. He was also listed on the Boston Police Department’s most wanted list.

• Wrentham Police Department: one warrant for Larceny Over $250
• Natick Police Department: two warrants for three counts of Larceny Over $250 and Assault and Battery (two counts).

Chief O’Connor and the Concord Police Department would like to thank the Massachusetts Fusion Center, the Boston Police Department’s Regional Intelligence Center, the Acton Police Department, the Natick Police Department and the Braintree Police Department for their assistance in the identification STANLEY.

“This arrest is a perfect example as to why it is important to maintain partnerships with other law enforcement agencies,” Chief O’Connor added. “This incident remains open and under investigation and we will work with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office to hold this suspect accountable for his actions.”

STANLEY was held at the Middlesex Sheriff’s Department pending his arraignment at Concord District Court Monday.
