Chelmsford Police Department Police Athletic League Partner With Towing Company for “Tow Drunk To Drive” Program

CHELMSFORD — Police Chief James Spinney is pleased to announce that the Chelmsford Police Department’s Police Athletic League will partner with Christopher’s Towing Company, of Chelmsford, to offer free tows and rides to those who have had too much to drink at a party or establishment in Chelmsford during the holiday season.

towdrunktodriveThe initiative, called “Tow Drunk To Drive”, will run from Nov. 25, 2015 through Jan. 1, 2016. Participants can contact the Chelmsford Police Department or Christopher’s Towing Company, which will dispatch a tow truck to provide a free tow and ride to anyone who has had too much to drink, no questions asked.

“Safety is always our number one priority, and we want to ensure that our residents can enjoy their holiday without taking the risk of getting behind the wheel after drinking,” Chief Spinney said. POSTERFINAL“We have lost too many lives as a result of drunk driving and hope this program discourages this. It is always smart to plan ahead of holiday celebrations, but I strongly encourage residents who find themselves without a safe ride home to take advantage of this program. There is zero tolerance for drunk driving.”

Through this program, Christopher’s Towing will pick participants up, along with their vehicle, and drop them off anywhere in the Merrimack Valley. Police would like participants to note that they will be taken home, not to another party or establishment and their cars must be operable.

The Chelmsford Police Department’s Police Athletic League will donate $20 to a worthy cause for every person who utilizes the “Tow Drunk To Drive” program.

For a free ride and tow for yourself or a friend, call 978-452-7433 or 978-256-2521.
