Maynard Police and Fire Departments Respond to Construction Accident

MAYNARD — Police Chief Mark W. Dubois reports that the Maynard Police Department is investigating an apparent construction accident involving a worker who was run over by a skid steer loader.

Crews were dispatched at 1:23 p.m. to the area behind the Fowler School, located at 3 Tiger Drive. Upon arrival, police officers and firefighters located a 52-year-old male who had been run over by a Bobcat S185 loader driven by a coworker.

The victim was rescued and taken by medical helicopter to Boston Medical Center with injuries that are considered serious but non life-threatening.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is en route to Maynard and will investigate with Maynard Police.

The victim and driver are both employees of Utiliplay, based in Uxbridge. The company is contracted by the Town of Maynard to build a playground behind the school.
