**Joint Press Release** Gloucester Police Arrest Alleged Heroin Dealer While Working Together With Peabody Police

GLOUCESTER — Police Chief Leonard Campanello and Peabody Police Chief Thomas Griffin report that the Gloucester Police Department arrested an alleged heroin dealer today.

MICHAEL SOTO-VITTINI, AGE 33, OF SALEM is charged with:

  • Trafficking A Class A Drug (Heroin)
  • Distribution of A Class A Drug (Heroin) (Two Counts)
  • Possession of A Class B Drug (Cocaine)

At 11:18 a.m., Gloucester Police arrested SOTO-VITTINI after they witnessed him sell 40 bags of heroin to a cooperating source.

“As part of our mission to help people recover from disease of addiction, we will continue to be proactive by investigating and prosecuting drug dealers who are profiting from this illness,” Chief Campanello said. “It was through the hard work of Gloucester detectives, along with assistance from our North Shore counterparts, that this arrest was made possible today.”

The arrest follows several months of investigating, with assistance from the Peabody and Salem Police Departments.

“Our community partnerships are a valuable asset and we regularly work with neighboring departments to keep crime out of our cities and towns,” said Chief Griffin. “As a team were were able to pool our resources and knowledge to remove one more drug dealer from the streets.”

SOTO-VITTINI is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow at Gloucester District Court.
