On July 5, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Winchester and State Police responded to a Department of Conservation and Recreation parking lot at Sandy Beach for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers were met by a man who said he was assaulted by two other men.

Police located PINEDA quickly and placed him in custody. They then received information that the second man had gotten into a vehicle and had made statements that he had a firearm in his possession.

Members of the crowd pointed out ANDRADE-ASCENCIO in a Toyota Camry sedan, attempting to leave.

Officers approached the vehicle and ordered ANDRADE-ASCENCIO to put his hands on the steering wheel. He was taken into custody, and officers found a Glock handgun in the vehicle, in plain view. An investigation showed that the serial numbers had been defaced.

An investigation revealed that the victim and his family pulled into a parking space in the crowded lot and were approach by PINEDA who told them that they could not park there because he was saving the space for his friend. When the driver refused, PINEDA allegedly pulled out his keys and began to scratch the vehicle. ANDRADE-ASCENCIO arrived a short time later and the two allegedly shoved and slapped the driver, his brother, uncle, and aunt.

During the altercation, PINEDA allegedly exposed himself to the victim’s aunt and her two young daughters.

“As a result of the strong partnerships formed by Winchester and State Police, one less illegal handgun is on the streets and these two suspects were taken into custody before anyone was seriously injured,” Chief Albertelli said. “I am proud of the good police work done in this case.”

State Police arrested and booked both suspects, The suspects were arraigned in Woburn District Court.
