Arlington Police Seek Public’s Help in Finding Suspect in Robbery of Man by Online Acquaintance

ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department has identified a suspect who is now wanted for arrest in connection with a robbery on June 30.
The Arlington Police Department has taken out an arrest warrant for STEVEN MICHAEL O’BRIEN, AGE 25, OF ARLINGTON charging him with:
- Receiving / Possession Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Kidnapping
- Larceny Over $250 from a Person Over 60.
Police believe that O’BRIEN arranged to meet an Arlington man on Craigslist and then robbed him.
O’BRIEN has an extensive criminal history and is well known to the Arlington Police Department. In addition to this incident, he also has multiple outstanding warrants out of Cambridge District Court.
“This wanted felon is a career criminal who we allege committed a robbery in our community this week,” Chief Ryan said. “We are actively looking for him, and if anyone from the public knows where he is staying, they would be doing the public a service by contacting the Arlington Police Department right away.”
Arlington Police wish to thank the MBTA Transit Police for their assistance in identifying the suspect, using surveillance footage from Alewife Station.
If anyone has any information as to the suspect’s whereabouts, they should contact Arlington Police at 781-643-1212. All callers may remain anonymous.
