Arlington Police Department Investigating Reported Stabbing on Massachusetts Avenue

ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating a reported stabbing incident that allegedly occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday on Massachusetts Avenue.

Arlington Police Officers responded to the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melrose Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 23-year-old Falmouth man who told officers that he had been stabbed in the neck near the intersection.

The victim was conscious and alert when rescuers got to him. He was taken to an area hospital, where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

There is no word on a suspect at this time, and the victim is not currently cooperating with law enforcement. However, police have reason to believe that this was not a random act of violence.

Arlington Police Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood to try to determine what happened. Investigators are also examining surveillance footage from multiple businesses in the area.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information is urged to contact the Arlington Police Department at 781-643-1212
