Tyngsborough Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

TYNGSBOROUGH — Deputy Chief of Police Chris Chronopoulos reports that the Tyngsborough Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

Tyngsborough Police and Fire were called to the intersection of Middlesex Road and Merrimack Way at 6:20 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a white pickup truck.

Rescuers found the victim, a 67-year-old Tyngsborough man, laying on the road with serious injuries. He was taken to Lowell General Hospital and then taken by medical helicopter to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where he later died.

The name of the victim is being withheld at this time, pending notification of his family.

“This is a tragic situation involving the loss of life of a Tyngsborough resident walking in our community,” Deputy Chief Chronopoulos said. “My heart goes out to the victim’s family during this difficult time.”

The crash is under investigation by the Tyngsborough Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time, and the identity of the driver of the pickup truck is not being released at this time.
