Arlington Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash

ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan reports that the Arlington Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic incident involving a pedestrian.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Monday, Arlington Police and Fire responded to the area of 134 Massachusetts Ave. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, rescuers located the victim, a 91-year-old Arlington man, suffering very serious injuries. He was taken to an area hospital by Arlington Fire/Rescue, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time, pending notification of his family.

“My heart goes out to the family of our resident, whose life was tragically lost today,” Chief Ryan said.

The operator of the 2000 Honda Civic that struck the victim is a 60-year-old Woburn woman whose name is not being released at this time.

The incident is under investigation by the Arlington Police Department, with the assistance of the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
