Needham Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Accident

NEEDHAM — Police Chief Philip E. Droney reports that the Needham Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident.

Needham Police and Fire responded to the parking lot of 1257 Highland Ave. at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, rescuers found the victim, a 75-year-old Wellesley woman, with serious injuries. She was transported by the Needham Fire Department to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was a 37-year-old Needham woman. She has not been charged at this time.

The Needham Police Department is investigating the accident with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office Motor Vehicle Homicide Unit were notified and responded to the scene.

No roads needed to be closed during the initial investigation.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending family notification.
