Stoneham Police Find Violations at Massage and Bodywork Establishments
STONEHAM — Police Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department found violations and other problems at all four Stoneham massage and bodywork establishments surveyed during a joint compliance check conducted in partnership with the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure.
The purpose of the compliance checks was to ensure businesses are being operated properly and not performing unlicensed or illegal services on clients,
“These types of checks are so important to ensure that consumers are receiving services from a properly licensed and trained professional,” Chief McIntyre said. “We are seeking to maintain the safety of those who seek services and use these establishments.”
All four establishments checked were found to have issues during the Dec. 18 checks. As a result, two establishments were issued violations and monetary fines, while two were issued advisories. The fines were issued by the Division of Professional Licensure.
- Eastern Bodywork, 495 Main St. — Fined $2,000 for unlicensed establishment and unlicensed practice
- Oasis Bodywork, 106 Main St. – Fined $1,000 for unlicensed practice
- Natural Healing of Asia, 62G Montvale Ave. — Issued advisories to update its licenses
- Elements , 200A Main St. — Issued advisories to properly post its licenses
After seeing the findings of this preliminary round of compliance checks, Chief McIntrye says that the Stoneham Police Department will continue to check in on all of the massage parlors and bodywork establishments in town to ensure that they comply with state regulations and that their owners are following the law.
