Arlington Police Investigating Theft of Its Traffic Speed Display Unit
ARLINGTON — Police Chief Frederick Ryan announces that the Arlington Police Department is investigating the theft of its vehicle speed display unit, seen in the photo below.
An officer tasked with changing the battery in the “Portable Speed Awareness Monitor” on Tuesday, Sept. 30 reported the unit missing from the area of 391 Appleton St., where it had been secured to a pole, and it has not been found. Arlington Police are hoping that someone saw the thief or may have seen the large, electronic display somewhere.
“The Arlington Police Department takes very seriously the theft of police property,” Chief Ryan said. “We will actively pursue leads until this unit is found, and those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.”
The unit was purchased in 2009 with grant funding.
Chief Ryan also asks that if someone knows where the unit is, they should contact the Arlington Police Department at 781 643-1212.
