Sudbury Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Fires at Auto Dealership

Sudbury Police and Fire Investigating

SUDBURY — Fire Chief William Miles announces that the Sudbury Fire Department responded early this morning to a large outdoor fire at an auto dealership, which resulted in the damage or destruction of several vehicles.

A passerby dialed 911 at 1:07 a.m. Monday for a report of fire showing at Herb Chambers Land Rover, located at 83 Boston Post Road (Rt. 20).

“Crews had heavy fire showing from several vehicles upon arrival at the auto dealership,” Chief Miles said.

Several vehicles, including cars and SUVs, were ablaze when firefighters arrived. An aggressive firefighting effort was able to contain the fires, but a total of 15 vehicles were destroyed and 5 damaged when the fires were extinguished.

Sudbury Police, working with Sudbury Fire and the office State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan, are investigating the fire to determine a cause and origin, as well as to determine if the fires were deliberately set.

No injuries were reported.

The Marlborough Fire Department also responded to the scene, while the Concord and Maynard Fire Departments provided coverage to the Town of Sudbury during the incident.
