Saugus Police Arrest Two Boys for Allegedly Breaking into Convenience Store

Cigarettes, Lottery Tickets Stolen

SAUGUS — Police Chief Domenic DiMella announces that Saugus Police arrested two juvenile males early this morning for allegedly breaking into a convenience store and stealing lottery tickets and cigarettes.

Police responded to the Saugus Town Foodmart on Lincoln Avenue at 11:45 Wednesday evening for a burglar alarm activation. After meeting with the owner of the business and reviewing surveillance footage, investigators noted that two young males, about 5’6″ wearing dark clothes who forced open the store’s front door, grabbed several items from behind the counter, and left quickly.

Minutes later, officers searching Lincoln Avenue near the Revere line came upon two males matching the description of the suspects.

Officers positively identified the two males as the suspects seen on surveillance footage. The two males were stopped and taken into custody. Officers found that one of the males had more than 200 lottery tickets on him and both had several packs of cigarettes.

The males were arrested, taken to the Saugus Police Department, and their parents were called.

JUVENILE ONE has been charged with breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony and one count of larceny over $250. JUVENILE TWO has been charged with breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony and one count of larceny under $250.

The case has been sent to Lynn Juvenile Court.
