Boston establishes fund for families of Lieutenant Ed Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh announced the creation of a fund to benefit the families of Lieutenant Ed Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy, who were killed in the line of duty last Wednesday during a brutal, wind-swept 9-alarm fire in Boston’s Back Bay.

The city has teamed with the Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union to establish a single, legitimate clearinghouse for donations, which follows the same smart decision taken by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Governor Deval Patrick in creating One Fund Boston after the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks. People can rest assured that their money will reach the right people with the “Lieutenant Walsh – Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund”

“In difficult times like these, I am so proud to be mayor of a city that comes together to help our neighbors in need,” Mayor Walsh said. “Although no donation can heal the wounds suffered by the Walsh and Kennedy families, we are grateful to the Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union for helping us create a focal point for peoples’ generosity, and to the people of Boston, of Massachusetts, and of the United States, who have once again shown the power of a community to help healing process begin.”
