Tragedy struck the Los Angeles Police Department late last week when a Hollywood Division officer died when in a crash between his cruiser and a tractor-trailer truck.
Officer Nicholas Choung Lee, 40, was killed and his partner seriously injured in Beverly Hills, when the big rig lost its brakes and struck the cruiser, according to KTLA. The driver of the truck was also hurt.
Officer Lee appeared in a moving video dedicated to Rhode Island’s Tyler Seddon, who is battling Leukemia for the second time. Seddon, who loves police officers and firefighters, celebrated his 7th birthday last week with hundreds of first responders who journeyed to his hometown to visit him.
Lee was an extremely decorated police officer. During his 16-year career, he received more than 70 commendations.
Lee leaves his wife, Cathy Kim, their two daughters, Jalen, 13, and Kendall, 6, and his parents.
Tyler’s mother, Rachel Seddon, flew to Los Angeles at the request of LAPD to attend the departmental funeral for Lee, which drew police and others from all over the country. Lee was the first LAPD officer to die in the line of duty since 2008.
Tyler back in the hospital
In other #TylersTroops news, Tyler is back in the hospital this week as he continues his battle.
Tyler is at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence after he underwent several procedures, including surgery to combat an infection, according to WCVB.
He is also undergoing four days of chemotherapy.
Rachel Seddon told Channel 5 that Tyler is “doing OK,” but added that the days since his birthday on March 6 have been exhausting for everyone, especially Tyler.
