Somerset Police Inform Somerset Middle School Community Members of Southbound Road Closure on Bark Street

SOMERSET — Chief Todd Costa would like to inform Somerset Middle School community members of the southbound Bark Street road closure that is expected to impact school traffic during the morning commute.

Road Closure May Impact Student Drop-Off, Plan for Delays

SOMERSET — Chief Todd Costa would like to inform Somerset Middle School community members of the southbound Bark Street road closure that is expected to impact school traffic during the morning commute.

Somerset Police would like to inform community members of ongoing sidewalk construction on Bark Street in Swansea that has closed the street to southbound traffic beginning at 7 a.m.

Due to this closure, Somerset community members dropping their children off at Somerset Middle School may experience traffic delays.

As a reminder, student drop-off at the school begins at 7:35 a.m. Parents/guardians who drop their children off prior to 7:35 a.m. can enter the school property and remain in the drop-off line until school opens. Once the drop-off line is filled and no more cars can fit into the main entryway of the school, parents/guardians must make their way into the parent drop-off line that begins on Brayton Avenue facing the southbound direction.

Families in the drop-off line on Brayton Avenue must keep their vehicles as close to the curb as possible to allow for traffic to pass by.

It is unknown at this time if construction will impact Orlando and Jaffrey Streets, however, community members are asked to proceed with caution in this area.

To avoid this road closure and heavy traffic delays, it is recommended that parents utilize buses and carpool if necessary.
