Whitman Police and Fire Respond to Fatal Train Crash Involving Pedestrian

WHITMAN — Police Chief Timothy Hanlon and Fire Chief Timothy Clancy report that the Whitman Police and Fire Departments responded to a fatal train crash involving a pedestrian last night.

WHITMAN — Police Chief Timothy Hanlon and Fire Chief Timothy Clancy report that the Whitman Police and Fire Departments responded to a fatal train crash involving a pedestrian last night.

On Tuesday, May 30 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Whitman Police were notified by MBTA Transit Police of a crash that occurred in Whitman involving a southbound train possibly striking a pedestrian on the tracks.

Whitman Police and Fire responded to the scene. The victim, a juvenile female, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Massachusetts State Police Detectives, MBTA Transit Police, Hanson Police, East Bridgewater Police and the Whitman Department of Public Works also responded to the scene.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time.

The crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and MBTA Transit Police.

On behalf of the Whitman Police and Fire Departments, Chief Hanlon and Chief Clancy would like to extend their condolences to the victim’s friends and family.
