STONEHAM — Chief James McIntyre reports that the Stoneham Police Department will charge an 18-year-old and two juveniles following a vehicle chase in a stolen car Friday afternoon.
A 16-year-old juvenile male from Woburn will be charged with:
- Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Leaving the Scene of Property Damage
- Failure to Stop for Police
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Speeding
- Failure to Maintain Marked Lanes
- Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign or Traffic Lights
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
Both an 18-year-old from Woburn and a second 16-year-old juvenile male from Woburn will be charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
All three were issued summonses to be arraigned in court at a later date. Because a criminal complaint has not yet been filed in court, Stoneham Police cannot identify the 18-year-old. A criminal complaint will be filed Monday. The juveniles will not be identified.
The charges come following an investigation with assistance from Winchester Police and Woburn Police.
On Friday afternoon, March 10, Stoneham Police received a be-on-the-lookout alert after a white Audi sedan was reported stolen in Winchester.
Around 5:30 p.m., a Stoneham Police officer located the vehicle near the intersection of Main and South streets and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver fled from the officer eventually crashing into a home on Franklin Street.
The three males in the vehicle fled and the juvenile driver was apprehended and detained. The other two were later positively identified through the investigation.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
