On Friday. Feb. 26, at approximately 6:15 p.m., an off-duty police officer witnessed suspicious activity at the Bedford HomeGoods, 9 Kilton Road.

The activity mirrored a popular credit card fraud that is being reported nationwide involving scammers using stolen identities and bank information to purchase gift cards in large quantities.

Information was relayed to on-duty patrol officers, who performed a motor vehicle stop with the suspect as she was leaving the area.

After a roadside investigation, Bedford Police arrested TIFFANY BUCHANAN, AGE 24, OF BROOKLYN, N.Y. She is charged with Fraudulent Use of A Credit Card.

“I commend the work of our off-duty officer who immediately noticed this suspicious activity and relayed the information to our on-duty units, which were able to quickly make an arrest,” Chief Bryfonski said. “We will continue to be vigilant in our efforts to prevent these scams from occurring in our community.”

BUCHANAN was processed and is being held at the Valley Street Jail on $10,000 cash bail pending her arraignment on Monday at the 9th Circuit Court – District Division – Merrimack.
